I don't find it surprising as Toyota has been racing in NASCAR's Craftsmen Truck Series for a couple of years. The Craftsmen Truck Series is a league that is a couple levels below NASCAR's top league. It was seen by most everybody that Toyota being in the truck series was just a warm up for them getting into the top league, a getting your feet wet kind of thing. A prelude if you will.

The other interesting rumor going around is that Honda may get into NASCAR as well.
