Re: Good bye GL, Hello SL - 06-27-2008, 09:11 AM

Thanks everyone. I am looking forward to another trip to Denver to pick up a new MB.

The reason for the '08 selection was simply money. I got over $18,000 off on the SL and the '09 would have been at MSRP plus a long wait. It was a weird day. I had a close deal for a Jag XK convertible and needed some information on trade values for the GL and called my rep in Denver. He provided me excellent information and my Jag rep was working on getting me a higher trade figure on the GL to close the deal.

My rep in Denver ( a really first class guy) called me late yesterday and said he found a Black on Black '08 at a California dealer and would I be interested. He told me about the discounts on the '08's and we put the deal together in about 30 minutes. I really had not planned to buy a SL, but I was not aware of the trunk money of $12,000 until my rep told me about it. Pleasant surprise

I have not looked at the '09's at all. I did review the posts here last night and also the MB site. There are some things I would prefer like the improved telematics but the body style in either is pretty nice... The GL was great but as one gets on in years, you want to make sure you have a chance to enjoy yourself while you are able. The size of the SL fits my lifestyle more than the 7 seat GL and I had a chance to drive another great MB....

Pictures to be forthcoming soon... Can't stop smiling this morning.
