I think it is an issue of costs. If MB could get a diesel B-class to the states, I would buy one. The problem is I don't think Mercedes is smart enough to do it. They do zero marketing of diesel. Zero. I don't know what the mpg would be in a B diesel but I would imagine in would be in the mid 40s.
Stick a Smart logo on the thing and sell it as a Smart in the US. If they can sell those little fourtwo turds for $18k, surely people would pay $25k for a diesel B-class that gets better mileage.
The US is really feeling the gas crunch, and Mercedes has no 4 cylinder diesel offerings in the USA. Quit sleep walking Mercedes and get these products to our shores. |
