Hey..I'm not complaining about the time...I'm complaining about the money. The time is fine because that gives me more time to save up

The problem is these days we get the real info & spy pics well ahead of product's launch. Even 2 or 3 years in advance. So it is obvious it's damn long period till we see the car IRL. And that drives someones crazy. Including me.

According to my info basis M3 version price will be a few percents higher than E46 M3, but when ordered with optional features the price will easily skyrocket even beyond $60k.

But do not ask me what features (eg. CF roof, HUD, NAV, Entertainment etc) will be standard & which optional since I do not have such detailed info.

Oh yeah, I know that the car will go beyond the 60k mark when ordered with options...even the current one comes at a hefty 70k fully loaded, that's why I want the base model to start below 60 because i'm not willing to pay 85k for a fully loaded m3 if the base price is above 60k. Personally...i hope that HID lights are standard...because even my acura had them standard..and that only cost 25k!

No BMW model is as gay as MB's SLK. So MB is more gay than BMW.

Re: Next-gen BMW M3 a year away? - 09-29-2006, 06:38 PM

Long production times are due engine development. As you can see M GmbH do not follow AMG's "one-engine-in-all-models" formula.

Also M get the donor parts when standard car is almost production ready - so it is natural a launch of M model is delayed.

Still - Bruhnke said in the future the maximum delay of M model launch will be 1.5 years after standard model is launched.

Regarding boring shows: yes, their shows are boring. But still - BMW AG are in the car making business, not showbusiness.

I said it before: BMW rather announce new models when getting the all the spotlight, not at auto shows when their new model will be just one of many new models shown there - with 1% press coverage.

BMW get triple attention: when announcing the car, when hosting press test drives, and when finally showing the car at auto show. This formula proves as very successful one. So why change it?
