M3 has run flats, and I think the M5 does as well.

///m3 is going to 'rape' the competion...think about...the non-M version 335i is not a huge deal slower than the rs4...the m3 will be lighter and more powerfull and geared better...it 's gonna be a rocket...plus from the looks of it the AmG 63 engines seem to be overated and BMW engines are usually underrated...the c63 will be no contest... the Rs4 is will be the only thorn in the m3's side...also when the v10 came out....the people @ the ///m5 board asked BMW execs what the powerplant was capable of and they said alot more...some speculated 600hp...so im sure 420 won't be hard for the ///m3 and 450 would be a possiblilty..it would be unreal if they can get it from 4 litres but they're the professional in the business...

PS...im kinda sad theres no more inline 6 for the next gen m3...bmw should make the 2 sereis if their is one... powered by one

I dont know why this is surprising....The M3 always comes a year after the debut of the coupe...Which comes 1 year after the debut of the sedan.

The engine of the M3 is rumored to originate from M5 with two cylinders less so should be exactly 4.0 lt. On the other hand perhaps BMW was forced to revise the engine and increase the volume because of RS4.

True that the engine of the M5 has an output of around 630 hp without the limiter but even in that case the M3 should have around the 4/5 of that meaning 424 hp.

According to info I have S85 V10 engine is able of more than 400kW - more than 544HP.

And it will be offered in CS / CSL M5 & M6.

So around 109HP/L.

Which leads us to 435HP for 4.0L V8. But since M3 always gets creme-de-la-creme engines, I wouldn't be surprised if they could squeeze 460HP out of it (in CSL version).

So this paired with aggressive gearbox, killer suspension, ultralightweight material used, amazing steering the new M3 will be a new benchamrk in its class. Mind: BMW have Porsche 911 & AM V8 in mind as M3 coupe competitors this time.

If 911 and AMV8 are targeted will that make the next M3 more expensive than the current one?

No BMW model is as gay as MB's SLK. So MB is more gay than BMW.

Eni...I hope you're right. But honestly, I hope they don't go all out because that will drive up the cost, a LOT. I hope that the new M3 doesn't cost +60k because here in the states the m3 starts at 48k, so it would really suck if the new car jumps over 10k in price.

Performance wise, not price wise.

But it will be pricier than E46 M3 though.
