Then an American-Spec 3 Series for me, please. I am prejudiced against 4-pots, no matter how efficient or modern they are. 6-pots inline motor is a dot over "i" in the 3 Series, and I can hardly imagine the 3 Series lineup with only 4-pots (or even 3-pots) engines.

Let's see how the US market react on this move. I am sure that it will be clear that:
- enthiusiasts and power freaks will buy 6-pots
- those who want a BMW badge or economical modern car will opt for a 4-pot

That will be the case. No doubt.

I do not think BMW will completely abandon I6 engines in the 3-series. Let's just hope they do not put V6 ones in them...
