You could be correct but remember, the E46 M3 was an inline6. The characteristics are quit different here because your working with fewer cylinders. A hi-powered 6 requires more hp per displacement than a V8 or V10 so I would even bother comparing the 6 with the upcoming V8 M3.  | |

Today an engine has Valvertronic, tomorrow HPI & turbochargers, day after tomorrow - who knows what. There were debates to badge turbo with "ti"/"td", and direct injection with "ii", and then the combination of both (like seen in N54 engine) as "tii" - but they decided to go more simple way: 335i. Imagine the 330sxtii - a bit too much, isn't it? Regarding N54 in US: that debate was artificial and a total nonsense. N54 is coming to US - the problem is HPI (lean direct injection) which needs sulphur free gasoline which is not yet available in US. Therefore BMW have to tweak the engine to fit US fuel - just like Audi did with their FSI engines. | |

Hey Enilab, I have a question for you. I noticed on GCF that the Z4 coupe 3.0 si is getting the n/a N52 3.0 litre, not the N54? Why wouldnt they save the si nomenclature for the turbo and the regular i for the 265 hp version. thx for the update on the sulphur |
