Personally, I couldn't imagine the grill being changed out on the coupe. The look works pretty good, and does well to distinguish the coupe and sedan far better than previous generations.

I agree. I think they stay with the new e90 kidney grills. I think those 5 series grills are really just a disguise method.

They are not 5er grilles, it's a new grill all unto itself. The 5er grill is bowed out around the top, on the E90 M3 proto it is not. It's a new shape, albeit a subtle change.

Then again, lots of BMW mules are fitted with arbitrary grilles. I'd be very surprised to see an M3 sedan arrive "de-lipped" like the new coupe - it wouldn't make the car seem more agressive. Guess we'll see!
