Disguised 3er I Found at 14,100ft High -

Took a trip up to the summit Pikes Peak today, the annual race is sunday(which may explain why I saw these), and I saw two disguised facelifted BMW 3ers. Judging by the tachometers they were both deisel, also one had a sticker for diesel fuel. What I don't get is why they are still disguised if the facelift is official. Which leads me to this wierd door on the driverside behind the rear wheel(picture below), perhaps this is a new hybrid diesel or something or maybe it's totally normal and I am just demonstrating my ignorance of BMWs.

Maybe they are testing the fuel pressure at high altitudes, because I know rally cars have trouble with fuel pressure and air intake which then leads to poor performance
