Of course it sucks for the people who brought the car when these things happen but that is the risk you run of being an early adopter. BMW is not the first to update something a year after a car was introduced and will not be the last. Others have made changes - even bigger changes including MB.

Exactly, but I haven't seen changes and how some consumers might feel about them so easily dismissed as being a non-event as I have here.

No one hated the 4-speed transmission nearly as much as the old Idrive. On that alone an extra gear isn't going to piss folks off compared to knowing they just bought a 2008 M3 with a despised interface when the 09's are being shipped with something new. All of this happening the 2nd model year of the M3, not years later as was the case with the engine changes from C36 to C43.

A rear light is matterless, never mentioned it.

If they despised the I Drive so much why would they buy it? Obviously they liked something else about the car.

Of course they did, but that isn't even remotely the point.

If feel you guys are loosing track of the subject here and simply are argueing for the fun of it.. no problem with that but keep it nice dudes.

Anyway the FL 3 series looks stunning, and I can imagine M3 drivers to feel a litlle pissed, but the way it drives doesn't change and I also feel that's more important then the i-drive button. Once the car is set up to your likings no need to use it that much I guess...

is there an option for the gear shift on the steering wheel for a 320? or it comes as a standard with the automatic gearbox?....

Re: Official: BMW E90/E91 Facelift Thread

Sunny, my man.......a little moody these days????.......Interesting that you mention the mid-late 1990's and the C36/C43 here. Are you still feeling ripped off by BMW when the N. American E36 M3 got an inferior underpowered engine compared to the Europeans during the same time period???.....feeling like your car was not all that it could have been???.....That must feel worse than complaints of changes like a new I-drive or cosmetic changes you and Merc1 are "discussing" about in this thread.

I wonder why they didn't stick with that engine in W203 and did the whole C32 thing before bringing back the C55.
Yup, knew that little piece of trivia.....the W202 C55 was never made available in the N. American market. That old naturally aspirated 5.4L SOHC V8 made its debut in 1999 (it was used in the old W210 E55, W208 CLK55 and the limited production W202 C55).

Since you went into trivia, did you know that all the internals were revised with lighter, stronger components in the "newer" version of this engine which made its debut in the C55 and current SLK55 which contributed to a higher redline and increased HP output compared to the original engine?

I know.....I'm going off topic here.....and Sunny, I still love you man.....

Haha, thanks for rubbing it in...yes, it pisses me off that the US E36 M3 is really not powered by a real M engine - it is just a glorified version of the engine from the 325/328 with larger capacity and VANOS only on the intake (unlike the Euro version which had VANOS on both sided). Also we were stuck with the a 5 speed manual instead of the 6 speed. But it is not like we had much of an option. I would have probably popped a nerve if they made the euro version available here a year later after I got mine, but that did not happen.

About the 55 engine, no, I didn't know that they made a newer version for the C55. What I do find strange is the non AMG version in S550 making more power than the AMG version.
And love you too man... and hope you are enjoying the 1er.

Is there anybody who can tell me which color the leather seats in the pic above have? It seems to be too orange for sattelbraun or rotbraun. I'm about to order the car but there is still no info material at my dealer.

Thanks, I had already a look on the site yesterday evening. I think the color must be oxydbraun, it is an individual-option. It's the first time I notice that BMW uses an individual color for the seats in the official press-release for a new or lci model (at least for the touring).
