Re: Official: BMW E90/E91 Facelift Thread

I'm pretty sure the facelift wont be a problem for current M3 owners at least not the new rearlights.
The huge difference between prefacelift and facelift is the I-drive and that might be a concern for some but in the whole I dont think it will be much of a problem for the majority of the current owners. Diehard fan or not.

Re: Official: BMW E90/E91 Facelift Thread

Of course lights won't be, but I bet that some owners on various boards will be pissed, especially if they don't like idrive. To just dismiss this possibility is just silly IMO. People get upset all the time when a car changes after they just bought it, at least in the U.S. Don't know about the everyone-is-an-enthusiast European markets.

I've been here for a whilenow, but never posted before

EnI or Scoot, do you know why Sparkling Graphite isn't offer throughout the BMW lineup anymore?

Also, I want to alert e90 ///M buyers that the ///M saloon is getting 2 LCIs

Almost all BMWs are getting the new iDrive in the Fall: 1er, 3er, M3, 5er, M5, 6er, M6, new 7er.

New Z4, X5 & X6 will get it in the Spring 2009. I guess X3 as well.

Yup, imagine the horror of the poor blokes who brought a M3 "killer" from a certain competitor in 95 (yeah, they been trying for quite a while) with a craptacular 4 speed automatic only to see it replaced a year later with a 5 speed. And of course the poor blokes who brought the latest and greatest with the 5 speed had to bear the trauma of seeing their 3.6L V6 end up in the thrash bin in favour of a 4.3 L V8 a year later.

I much rather see a rear light being replaced in my brand new car than the whole drive line after a year.

What would be the fun in that?

And neither would I learn little AMG trivia like - you will love this one - W203 is not the first C55, there was actually a W202 C55 - but only about 100 were made.

I wonder why they didn't stick with that engine in W203 and did the whole C32 thing before bringing back the C55.

If it was only a light being replaced, this would make sense.

Secondly the 3.6L I6 ran for three years in the C36, not one.

It amazes me how ridiculous the reaction is from certain BMW fans is when someone dares say something unfavorable about BMW.

Then we're asked to believe that every BMW M3 buyer is some kind of weekend racecar driver that doesn't care about features being updated and/or replaced on a car they just bought a few weeks ago.

What utter nonsense.

Re: Official: BMW E90/E91 Facelift Thread

The 4 speed transmission lasted 1 year. Hmmm, let me imagine which is bigger change - the transmission or I-drive and a rear light?

Of course it sucks for the people who brought the car when these things happen but that is the risk you run of being an early adopter. BMW is not the first to update something a year after a car was introduced and will not be the last. Others have made changes - even bigger changes including MB.
