CLK Black Series isn't stripped down though and it is only a 350 unit run which isn't "sold out" yet.

Well its stripped out from a backseat and the chairs are real racing chairs, hardcore enuff for me. Its enough for me to call it a stripped car. Even with the slightest market bmw should sell a CSL in US. Its also a good imagebooster for their M3 (although the probably dont need a imagebooster ).

Well..uh not quite. True we don't get the back seat, but we have the same AMG sport seats as the C63, not those lightweight, carbon fiber back things you all get over there. Those seats don't have airbags and thus can't be sold here. The CLK63 Black Series isn't a stripped car anywhere near what a M3 CSL or our M3 "Lightweight" as they called it way back when, was. The CLK63 Black still has all the regular CLK 63 Cabrio luxuries except for the back seat.

Nope those seats don't pass U.S. regulations.

You can't get the racing seats in GT3/RS either here in US. But you can get them in GT2 and now even in Cayman S (it is new for Cayman S I think - so may be the regulations that stopped these seats from being available here in the US changed).

Here is the optional Cayman seat (same as in GT2 I think)

On the other hand, you can't get the new racing seats BMW is offering for the 1er here either. And even for M3 the lower portion of the seats (not the backrest) for US cars are diff from the Euro spec (it is same as normal E92 with less aggressive bolstering).

US spec M3 seat:

Isn't it to do with the average width of most Americans backsides? They are the most overweight country in the World and subsequently there car seats need to be wider to accomodate there barge sized behinds...

Here is a better idea. Make them exercise so they can fit into there seats instead of changing the seats for them...
