Regular 3er cabrio is about 210kg - 235kg heavier than the 3er coupe with the same engine.

I expect M3 cabrio will be in the same range as well.

Btw, are we sure 5.3sec 0-100km/h is a figure for a car with M DCT, or is this figure for the car with a manual gearbox?

4.8sec for coupe, 4.9sec for sedan ... with manual. 5.3sec for cabrio with M DCT is really quite a disappointing number.

PS: regular 3er cabrio accelerates 0.4sec - 1.0sec (depending on engine) slower 0-100 kmh (0-62 mph) than a regular 3er coupe with the same engine & gearbox. OK, knowing this 5.3sec for M3 cabrio is reasonable.

Re: Official Pics: M3 Convertible with M DKG

Yep ... the article says 5.3sec 0-100 kmh with the M DCT, 0.4sec slower than the coupe (?????hinting 4.9sec for the M3 coupe with M DCT?????). 230kg heavier than the coupe (not specified whether with manual or M DCT).

Not more than the regular 3er coupe vs cabrio: 210kg to 235kg difference (depends on engine).

Even if it's with a manual tranny it's a relativerly slow figure since the 135i and 335i accelerates just as fast 0-100, although the M3 cabrio will be faster at higher speeds.

But I'm not phased by the acceleration figure at all, especially when the car will have a price tag just under 70k. I guess that's the price to pay for a metal folding roof.

Can you make a guess of what the diference would be if the cabrio had been a normal canvas roof?

This, and due significant body frame structure enhancements - to make the body approx. as stiff as the one of a coupe.
