Performance comparison - The last three M3's - 11-10-2007, 11:05 AM

I made this little tabling comparing the 2000 M3 with the CSL and the new M3 V8.
Based on Sport Auto tests.

Most interesting data for me is the flexibility of the new M3 in 6th gear

Re: Performance comparison - The last three M3's - 11-10-2007, 11:39 AM

I wish the new M3 was a little bit lighter. 50kg would be enough I think to achieve better results.

Did the E46 M3 Coupe really accelerated 0-100 kmh in sub 5 secs? I think it did 100 in 5,2 secs.

Wow. I had no idea the E46 was that quick. I never knew that it could do 0-100 in under 5 sec.

It isn't so quick. Factory time for the car is 5.2 seconder for the 0-100km/h sprint.
It's only those American magazines that somehow seem to get half a second off all the cars they test!

E46 M3 = 5.2 s
E92 M3 = 4.8 s

I think BMW really did a good job limiting the new car to only 40kg over the last one considering more power, more features and I am sure better safety.

E46 M3 = 5.2 s
E92 M3 = 4.8 s
Sport Auto did 4,8 s in cold weather with the E46 M3. They also did 4,8 s with the E46 M3 SMG... And AMuS did 4,8 s once... And those were european cars.
