![]() | Re: BMW M3 Launch in Sydney (Photos Included) Monster, do you have problem sleeping at night dreaming about that black M3? Because if you do, I know how it feels exactly. Nice write up and pictures collection you have! I went to Perth M3 launch night last Wednesday, the same day as my girl's 2nd birthday. I had to beg my wife to let me go for 45mins, I raced to the dealership like a maniac but got flashed by speed camera on the way... Anyway, I arrived there and found the 2 cars surrounded by 50 to 60 BMW fans, feeling more frustrated, I waited patiently for the salesperson to make the intro... M3 was my university day dream, I gave up a long time ago knowingly that by the time I can afford one, I have a family and it better suit flamboyant and "no string attached" life that I once have. I negotiated with him and paid minimum deposit to be in the waitlist which is approximately a year away, just in case if I really want it. I went home happy, but I didn't like the look of the carbon fibre, I'm trying hard to appreciate it and I know the weight saving principal and lower center of gravity, but this car is so much nicer with luxury options like extended creme novillo leather and wood trim compared to carbon look leather with aluminum combo that the other car has... Call me anything, but my heart beat faster in the car and I fall in love again with my "other" university sweetheart. P.s. Can you help me with instruction on posting the pictures? It keeps telling me that the file is too big (i.e. 1mb) Cheers! |

. I didn't expect the M3 to look this good until I saw it in real life. When I saw the black one, I thought "wow now that is freaking awsome". Quote:

This one is the demonstrator car. I like the whole presentation optioned with 19" M rims with Michelin tyre Premium HiFi package Extended Novillo leather Comfort access with keyless start/stop button Sunroof (instead of carbon) Wood trim (Sycamore grain, very pleasant to look everyday) Space grey metallic paint Fully motorised rear window blind (not sure if this is standard feature) Heated seat PDC bluetooth/usb&/pod ready As you can see, it is more luxury orientated but still carry that brutal M power. The M button allows you different settings as many articles have pointed out. There is a noticeable difference between "Sport" setting and "Sport plus" setting... one being more rewarding (at the same time punishing) than the other. Normal mode will do just fine and give ample power on the street. If i ever buy it, unlike my Cayenne S(which I still love dearly), I will be very strict as to who and when they can sit in the car . |

I will make sure it stays under the radar so she stays happy . I had full points on my license, at the worst, it could be over by 25kph on 60kph zone. Which will wipe out 4 demerit points with fines ouch...Quote:
There are people waiting for DST version. I really like the manual box, it will be slower than DST, but its perfect as it is and I haven't bought a manual car for at least 7 years. Quote:

And did you tell her about the deposit?Quote:
The dealer I have spoken to told me they will get about 2 cars every 10 weeks right now, so it is about the same. There is already a waiting list of one year for the car and they have already taken more orders for the DST than the manual version. As I have mentioned previousely, one guy placed a deposite 2 years ago for the new M3. One of my friend's dad workmate ordered six M3 last year and people have already offered around extra $10k to $15k to jump the waiting list. Yeah around 22kg of weight saving and it lowers the C of G by 4mm or something around there.

. We originally agreed to get Cayman S or Boxster S next year. She doesn't like most BMW models, but I think she will find it very easy to like the M3. | ||
