Re: 2008 BMW 3-series update

The LCI of the 3er sedan and Touring will be at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2008.
The facelift will coincide with the introduction of the M3 sedan which will be the only 3er sedan equipped with the front end of the Coupe which is used for apparently improving cooling, crash prevention and suspension alterations and ride height with the M3 sedan over the regular 3er sedan.

The LCI will not be a radical change but a typical BMW facelift.
BMW see no need to reply with a complete overhaul in answer to the new C-Klasse and the incoming A4. As the 3er remains a strong seller against the c-Klasse.
The main exterior changes will be a revised front air dam with a chrome strip element similar to the 5er , New alloy wheel designs , front and rear headlight graphics ( The rear design stays as it is...) , interior options and Efficient Dynamics.

BMW see the 3er as "If it aint broke don't fix it!"

i hope they really spruce the interior up... it needs a similar upgrade like the 5 series recieved... more wood would be nice and less dark plastic

Quattro killer? Hardly... Quattro will never fail as a fully mechanical system regardless of weather conditions, an electronically controlled AWD sys??? Forget it...

The W204 hasn't even completed it's first year, in Europe.

Don't be too fast!

Audi will soon introduce QTV system: Quattro Torque Vectoring - which will be completely electronically controlled.

It's the future of AWD ... 100% mechanical control is passé.

Re: 2008 BMW 3-series update

For the engines, so BOTH the 330i and 325i will have a 3litre engine? so the 325i will have a 'tuned down' version of the 330i?

As for the facelift, well in my opinion, the E46 mid life facelift was one of the best that they have done, especially the sedan, it just freshen it so much that it looked 'new' up against the C and the A4 back then... but that facelift was mainly exterior changes and mechanical changes, interior remained identical. Actually i am very happy with the current E90 interior, certainly not inferior in anyway to the new C class, it's different to the E60 where the pre FL had ridiculously low amount of trim.. I really hope they do something big to the front(headlight/grille).. And i think it will get the new gear lever as well?

Come on Scott, enough with BMW rhetoric. BMW wouldn't be able to do a full overhaul of the 3 so soon anyway, it has nothing to with whether or not they saw a need to compete with the C-Class. You make it sound like BMW is oh so untouchable that they decided against a total re-do, when in reality they couldn't have redesigned the 3-Series so quickly anyway.

This faclelift is business as usual, has nothing to do with the C-Class or A4. BMW surely isn't that arrogant to not even be concerned about the C-Class and especially the next A4. They don't know what the A4 will bring to the table. BMW would love to have a new car to combat them immediately, but it isn't possible.
