I honestly can't say because I've never heard an RS4 irl. But at lower revs, it is quite civilized. At high revs, this thing is a mix between a V10 and a V8.

If this is similar to the Aston-Martin Vanquish's setup, it is to allow hot air to escape. I've seen this happening and thought the car was malfunctioning, but it wasn't.
