^yep controversy always attracts more attention..nothing wierd or new about that..
but one thing is for sure.. im not enjoying this.. its kinda frustrating..
sometimes it fun though to read expleantions on this matter from bmw fans..

if the M3 wins over the RS4 .. then its not the M3 that has failed..nor is it the RS4.. its the reviewers who have failed by saying that the M3 is no good..
by the way so far 1-0 for audi..
when it comes to C63 i dont know what to expect.. as i still compare it to the old AMG C.. and by those means it should not win a comparo based on sportyness against either the BMW or the AUdi.. if it does.. i will be very happy and very surprised..

Re: Automobile Mag. First Drive: 2008 BMW M3

^really was it that unclear..

well you asked me if i love to read complaints about the M3
and my answer is No .. cause i dont like this situation..i would have wanted the car to be loved more..
and at the same time i must say yes.. cause i like to hear the excuses of some fans about how and why the reviews are bad..
so my answer is Yes and NO..

other than that.. i just wanted to say..that controversy attracts more attention..

then you said that the M3 is not failing if it beats the others in tests..
and i say yes i agree.. but its not audi or MB that are failing either..
its the journalists that failed.. in their initiall reports of the M3 then..

And i just pointed out thus far its 1-0 for the RS4

Other than that i had a side not about the C63.. wich is that i compare it to the C55.. so therefor i dont expect it to win any comparo against the 2 others.. but if it does ile be very happy and surprised..

PS
and last of all.. yes the pressure on the M3 is heavy.. but its not the most pressure a car have ever had..
the W221 had alot of pressure..

Re: Automobile Mag. First Drive: 2008 BMW M3

journalists are humans and not perfect

I have seen test were C55 beat M3 and S4. I wont be surprised if C63 wins and by the reviews so far it looks like AMG done there best work ever, in fact it sounds like its the best AMG ever built. It has great opportunity to beat M3 since it sounds like BMW M-divison gone soft with the M3.

Form follows function, okay, but it doesn't mean it has to be ugly. The trick is to make it functional yet pretty at the same time. Isn't that quite the point of German cars?

Yeah, you're right, but it also should be lightweight, and the plastic should be very light.

Best regards, south

But you pay for it. And I'd rather spend my money on something functional like the carbon fiber roof that reduces center of gravity than a shiny aluminum fuel cap.

Re: Automobile Mag. First Drive: 2008 BMW M3

Besides Mirage, it's not an engine bay cover at all. It's the inlet plenum air box. And it's made of a special, lightweight plastic and fibre compound. Look at the M5's V10 and you'll see a similar contraption.

The inlet plenum creates an air chamber around the inlet trumpets (see image below) which feed air via individual throttle butterflys to each cylinder. It's a very specialised layout.
