Well, of course and they should too. But I would say that these look a lot better than the current ones.

Too bad they didn't make it into production, I like them.

Original E90 rear (never made it into production)

I don't understand why BMW didn't use this one. Screw Audi, BMW have L- shaped tailight for a long time, they should have use this one

I think it honours BMW's integrity. Other manufacturers might have gone ahead with its plans, but then again, BMW is a company that others mimic... if they would have stayed with the original design they would have lost a good chunk of that image regardless of whether the L-shape is a BMW trademark or not.

^^ I agree.
However, for me it's not the shape of the lights that is problematic. It's the infamous white part. Just look at the Black Line lights (I think it's their name, the smoked ones) you find in BMW Parts, they have the exact same shape but look very good.

Sometimes I think the rearlights look good, sometimes I think it looks bad.
I believe it depends on the colour on the car.
My father own a silver E90. On silver the current rearlights works very well IMO. It does look good and certainly look a lot better In Real Life than on pictures.

My father think the rearlights looks good so he wont be running to BMW for the new rearlights.

I also think the realights on E90 look better than this. On this pic they look big and clumpsy.

More smoked rearlights

Current M3 sedan owners will need a different bootlid soon.

Like I said in another thread, I would have agreed with you in 2005 but not anymore. You see making the upper outernmost part white completely erases what is left of the L-shape. The result are two uninteresting shapeless blobs.

Bootlid is not enough, the graphics inside the other part will be different as well.

Sure, but they don't need to change the sheetmetal for that, a different light cluster will do.
There are bigger worries for current M3 sedan owners sadly, like a complete new iDrive system
