THose pictures came out before the E90 even came out. I've already seen the CAD model a while ago

Right. The pictures (cj_zed's plus the clay model) are some years old. They stopped this rearlight design short before the E90/E91 went into production (because it was too similar to the A4 facelift). Saw the E90 LCI IRL but had no chance to look under the cover. The interior looked similar to the pre-FL's.

I only saw the outside of it. I'm not too comfortable telling more, but the tape is there for a reason.
