Exclamation No Spare Tire in BMW 320d

I saw a BMW 320d, Monaco Blue In India, yesterday. Stunned to see that there was no spare tyre in the car. How they are going to sell in Indian Market. Moreoever if they add the spare tyre into the package where they will fit it in the car. Boot space is already so small. Another question is is their boot actually have capacity they say it have.

Please update me if you know anything about it.

Re: No Spare Tyre in BMW 320d

if its 320d based on E90 then the car has run-flats instead of a sparetire

Re: No Spare Tyre in BMW 320d

Thanks for your response dear, but i know it is on Run Flat Tyres. But Run Flat Tyres have a range limit, i.e. upto certain distance the car can be driven on run flat tyre and that too at limited speed. That means in the midnight if you go for a party and tyre go flat then one has to arrange a Taxi. Isn;t it.

Once again thank for reply.

Re: No Spare Tyre in BMW 320d

One More Thing i forgot to mention. See the Boot Opening of the 3 Series. Can a person put bigger luggage in it easily. I believe it is more of a sports saloon and can't be compared with C class which is a luxury saloon.

What Say<img>

Re: No Spare Tyre in BMW 320d

Our Mercedes E320 doesn't have a spare tire too. It's a "trend" these days since most cars are equipped with run-flats. I believe they have a range of 100 km at a top speed of around 50 or 80 km/h. They're simply designed to get you to the nearest shop where the tires can be repaired.

Re: No Spare Tyre in BMW 320d

Dear,

BMW is not offering touring in India. Secondly i was comparing it with Mercedes-Benz C class in Indian Package in which spare is is available. Please do consider that In India it is the rule that if you want to assemble a car in india and have to sell it here you have to have 5 tyres of same size. THat's what i wanted to know that where they will fit the spare tyre.

Re: No Spare Tyre in BMW 320d

Dear,

I understand but in countries like India where we dont have such shopes easily available at short distances. And what if i had gone for party and in the midnight while returing i came to know that i got a flat tyre.then i believe we shall be stuck in the night on road (If there is no auto centre near around).

Run Flats can't be repaired according to a tire salesman i asked (he went to a Michelinrun flat presentation recently BTW). You just have to buy a new tire.

That is what they tell you. I have fixed two of mine and they are holding pressure for about 7 months now.
I have noticed that long as you have about 20psi of pressure in the tire, the sidewalls are are not supporting the full load and can be repaired. On the otherhand, if the pressure is very low in the sense that the sidewalls are the primary loading bearing component of the tires, then I am afraid you may need to have them replaced.
