Of course, a twin-turbo 3.0 six
ought to have better performance than a single turbo'd 2.0 litre four no? So there's no surprise that the 135i sets a performance benchmark in its price range.
But don't let that count against the S3 which, barring the 135i, is a sensational performer in its own right - particularly in ground covering ability as the S3 acquits itself most favourably on a circuit.
I'd wager to say that the S3 Sportback is infinitely closer to the 135i in outright performance terms than the 135i is to the S3 Sportback in terms of practicality, versatility and image. Whilst I'm a fan of the chunky, truncated looks of the 135i I still can't deny that it looks like a bit of a yobbo's car. An S3 Sportback is ever more the classier car.
I'll have that S3 SB rather.
