I was thinking the same thing, but there is more:
- the Chrome is also specific for the 50i
- in the front the grill is also in Chrome (reserved for the 35d and 50i)

So maybe it is a 50i with the wrong plate (most likely) or it will be possible to retrofit the 35d with Chrome line, which sound like good news to me...
