Re: AMS review + 0-200km/h time = Audi RS6 Avant - 03-19-2008, 04:56 AM

Damn, the weight of the RS6 Avant really drags that beast down considering the HP advantage it has over the M5 Touring.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't AMS clock the E60 M5 Touring at 14.8s for the 0-200km/h dash ..and the E63 Estate hit 200km/h after 15.3 seconds?

Power output
M5 Touring: 507hp
RS6 Avant: 580hp
E63 Estate: 514hp

Curb Weight
M5 Touring: 1,995kg
RS6 Avant: 2,025kg (Official Audi figure, not AMS weight)
E63 Estate: 1,840kg

Power-to-Weight Ratio (hp/100kg)
M5 Touring: 25.4hp/100kg
RS6 Avant: 28.6hp/100kg
E63 Estate: 27.9hp/100kg

So of these three, the M5 Touring has the lowest power-to-weight ratio, yet manages to do 0-200km/h faster than both RS6 Avant and E63 Estate. Can anyone explain how the M5 Touring managed this, and more importantly why the RS6 Avant's superior power-to-weight ratio (~13% better than the M5 Touring) didn't translate into the fastest time for the 0-200km/h test?
