My model has a resistence built into the controller. As you get closer to the end of the menus it gets harder to turn until eventually you cant turn anymore because your at the end of the menu. The knob also clicks down nicely when selectly an option. But yes it doesnt have a lock in click for each part of the menu and occasionally i do overshoot the command I am aiming for. Doesn't bother me but, iDrive and I get along!

Well coming from the terribly light steering of the falcon I have absolutely no gripes with the steering. It is ligh enough at low speeds and offers great control at higher speeds. At higher speed it does occisionally feel disconnected but to a degree that I lose any confidence.

The slightly loose leather look in the 5 series does add to a sense of richness to the interior.
Yep, I love my seats!! I just feel the leather on the E Class looks more luxurious. Not that I can complain but. BMW make near the best seats in the business. I love the new headrest especially.

Who invented dealers honestly. They know nothing about the cars they are selling...

Were you tempted to redline the engine and unleash the full 200kW, and what is the average fuel consumption like?
The engine was a real surpise to em coming from the 4 litre torque "monster" that is the falcons BARRA engine. The beemers engine goes effortlessy of the line and just keeps on pulling. from say 50-100 it has incredible power! It's a really great engine hat complements the car. I love the almost banshee like whail it makes when you flatten the accelerator leaving a set of lights. The fuel consumption puts to the same the falcon. I was getting 13.7 with the falcon and get on average 10.2 with the BMW. That included quite a bit of stop start highway driving day to day...
