Audi jazzed up the company's happy sales numbers by letting Bryan Adams serenade the new TTS coupe (272-hp TFSI V-6 with Quattro, 0-60 in 5.4 seconds) with a rousing rendition of "The only thing that looks good on me is you."

But what really rocked the crowd was the introduction of the R8 6.0 V-12 TDI. Just as it introduced the world's first diesel convertible in 1995, the first company to win LeMans with a diesel is launching the world's first diesel supercar. It's got the goods for superstardom: 500 horses, 738 pound-feet, 0-60 in 4.2 seconds en route to a top speed of about 185 mph, all while returning about 24 mpg and meeting California standards.

Changes relative to the V-8 include larger grilles with mesh inserts, a fixed rear wing, big air scoops in the polished side blades and the glass roof, and red accents on the engine and in the interior.

Looks to us like a car the supercar club will welcome.
