Most of the guys on M3 post are a part of a minority i.e young and very successful.

In general cars are a status symbol in the US and the car industry is major. There are youngsters who live in a shoe box but drive a Chrysler 300C. You can buy a brand car without putting down a dollar and pay $199 a month. Dealers are very competative and the banks are generous with loans and credits. Many people live in debt.
