Re: Performance Preview: Exclusive Look at the B8 S4

Am I the only one here perplexed by this rumour that the next S4 will be turbocharged? Make no mistake, I'm a big fan of turbo's but surely this can't be right?

The S4 will, like its sister car the S5, come out with a V8 normally aspirated FSI engine. Surely?

With the passing of the current RS4, Audi have a magnificent V8 engine that they can tune by virtue of limiting the number of rpms to any variation in output below 309 kW.

With speculation rife that the next RS4 is going to be a belter - either in the form of a twin-turbo'd V8 or a NA V10 - there's tons of scope for the current V8 FSI engine to do all manner of duties in various states of tune for the incumbent S4. What's stopping Audi from making the new S4 a 285 kW, 440 Nm super saloon and then still having an A4 S-Line with a 235 kW twin-turbo'd V6 to take on the 335i? Now, that makes sense to me at least...
