Re: BMW X6 Concept & X6 Active Hybrid Concept (official pics & info) - 09-11-2007, 04:35 PM

People tend to express their dislike when they see something new...and out of the ordinary...like the X6 for example. The majority of car manufacturers are afraid to try something new...so in the end of the day they end up with new designs...that are pretty much a facelift from its predecessor. Take the new A4 for instance. Nothing major has been done to the effect that BMW has done with its models (Z3 Coupe to Z4 Coupe, E46 to E90 and E91 etc).

What I am trying to say is that a new design is hard to get used to...it's hard for the eye to adopt to the new cues of this design...having seen all the other new cars around.

I like cars that are ahead of their time as far as design is concerned...keeping the correct proportions of course. For instance I loved the 147 when it came out in 2001 when it was up against the Golf IV (which looked like a box...) and the A3. I don't, however, like the Brera cause I think the proportions are all wrong (thin in the front...really really fat at the back).

The new X6 has a magnificent design...with curves and lines...really out of the ordinary.

I think that the X6 is one of the most beautiful cars Chris Bangle has designed. THE most beautiful modern BMW out there for me is the Z4 Coupe.

But then again beauty and therefore a nice car design is a very very subjective thing...
