Automotive industry prepares for 2007 ‘Engine Oscars’
To find out who makes the greatest engines in the world, make sure you attend the International Engine of the Year Awards 2007 Trophy Presentation, which will take place at 2pm on 9th May 2007 at Engine Expo at Messe Stuttgart, in Stuttgart, Germany.
The Awards, now in their 9th year, celebrate the very best of engine engineering, design and innovation by awarding 12 trophies including eight capacity classes as well as the Best Fuel Economy, Best New Engine and Best Performance Engine categories. The winners of the eight capacity classes are then shortlisted to possibly become the overall
International Engine of the Year for 2007.

Having been crowned International Engine of the Year for the past two years BMW’s 5-liter V10 as housed in the M5 and M6 faces tough competition in 2007 from several new, intelligent powertrains including Toyota’s new hybrid, the 5-litre in the LS600, plus BMWs very own twin-turbo 3-litre.

Helping to decide the winners at the
International Engine of the Year Awards 2007, organized by UKIP Media & Events Ltd, publishers of Engine Technology International, will be new faces from around the world. These additional jury members will be supported by the established and knowledgeable backbone of the Awards jury, which comprises 61 motoring journalists from 29 countries. The new faces for 2007 include Pablo Jorge Gualtieri, a freelancer from Argentina for a range of titles both in print such as Parabrisas and El Repuesto, John Charpidis from Greece’s 4Wheels magazine and Thierry Etienne from Le Figaro, one of France’s largest circulation daily newspapers.
The International Engine of the Year Awards are presented by Engine Technology International. The Awards involve the voluntary participation of 61 leading motoring journalists from 29 countries. Engine Technology International receives no advertising or financial support from any car manufacturer or distributor.
