Hmm, they counted the Mini as a German car, even though the brand is British and it's made in England, because it's owned by BMW? But they counted the Bentley Flying Spur as Foreign even though, despite it being a British brand and some being built in England, it's also made in Germany and owned by VW? Odd.
Anyhow, is Autozeitung a mainstream motoring magazine, or a more specialist motoring magazine? I get the idea that often the very people that buy motoring magazines are already more in the 'drivers' segment of the population, even if it is a mainstream magazine. It means they're perhaps slightly set against Mercedes' more comfort and luxury oriented offerings, and keener on the driver involvement side.
Nevertheless, Mercedes had a rather poor showing. That the R-class won in its segment probably really only says much about the VW T5 and Sharan. |
