I don't think Audi's design is as understated as we make it. It's actually qutie chatty, in it's own way, which is the point I believe most of us are missing. We're constantly comparing one automakers design to another saying who's the leader and who's not, instead of looking at what makes each design language unique and special and respecting it for what it is. I believe there's an overall trend that's taken shape and is now universal amongst all designs, there are just different interpretations on a theme and you choose which one you like.
