Audi’s new Q7 4.2L V8 TDI - 03-02-2007, 02:48 AM

The VW group is continuing its diesel offensive with the addition of a new diesel engine that pumps out 240kW and a massive 760Nm of torque, making it the most powerful diesel SUV on the market. The engine even manages to beat out the V10 TDI found in the Touareg by 10Nm, and is capable of pushing the big vehicle to 100km/h in just 6.4 seconds.

The 4.2L TDI – also found in the A8 - develops 240 kW/326bhp at 3,750 rpm. Between 1,800 and 2,500 rpm it generates 760Nm of torque, making the power highly usable. Top speed is 236km/h and you can expect this Q7 variant to be in showrooms within three months.

It’s expected Audi will also give the green light to the V12 TDI concept it showed at the Paris and Detroit motor shows. This engine is capable of a simply colossal 500hp/1000Nm.
