What happened to the playbook that sculpted the beautiful rears on the A3 sportback and R8? They tossed it out for... nothing really. It's a shape that says nothing about the car's pretentions. It's not futurist and sedate... it's not low-key and classy... it seems more like a "Transformers Shape" pulled from the Honda or Acura playbook, but even they are handling such details better nowadays.
I get what you mean Osna. You expected a very special and avantgarde A5 and you didn't get it - instead, it's a mish-mash of everything that doesn't look coherent. I agree with you to a certain extent - I did say from the start that the rear looks awkward and the front a little too S3/B6 A4 inspired - but I'll give it more chance. Wait for more pictures. The shoulder line looks very 'thick', if you know what I mean. It has potential to be very beautiful.
