It's bad enough that the Autobahn A8 Munich-Stuttgart is basically limited to a pathetic 120 km/h for 90% of the journey. This just bugs me. |
I can see you have never visited the US. Believe me when I say we do not necessarily buy MBs for their speed potential. That's why so many four cylinder Cs have been sold. Looks fast, isn't. Besides that, nearly every model sold here is governed at 130mph so that cheaper tires can be fitted by MB. Blame the 140 for that.
In my own case, my '01 C320 can use it's just adequate 215hp little of the time because of traffic congestion and enthusiastic speed enforcement. By way of illustration, because of my car's small fuel tanks, I refuel it about every 200 miles. And at that time, I reset the trip computers, noting the fuel consumption but more importantly what my average speed was for that distance which is made up of a lot of freeway driving but also lots of time crawling in traffic on the surface streets.
When I ask someone what they would guess my average speed per tank might be, they are always wrong, guessing perhaps 50mph.
When in fact it is a very repeatable 24-25mph.
So, I would do just exactly what with 500hp?
