I think it is a grave shame that MErcedes are not going to base this car on a new frame. I know that the old car did not sell well and many resources were probably wasted by not selling many cars but if this is true and they are not interested in continuing any research or development into the car then why bother producing one at all? If there is no changes then these C-Class coupes are going to stick to the showroom floor like the old one, which is a shame because i for one like the direction it was coming from, there was something refreshingly different about it but i think that Mercedes needed to do a few things for the new model before releasing it. Firstly, they needed to structure, price and design it around the other leading contenders in the sporty hatch market, (if there is such a thing), like the 130i, S3 an then they may get some competition of sales. Secondly, they need to make an AMG version to compete with the cars above, maybe bringing back the old "36 AMG" engine and version.
If mercedes aren't interested then sales will still be low, this means they won't continue producing it and it is a shame because if some thought and development whent into the car the Mercedes coud potentially make a lot of money out of it.
Shame, shame
