The A5 coupe will be the first model based on Audi's new flexible B8 platform. By flexible I mean that Audi's next generation platforms will be able to expand or contract in size to meet a model's specific characteristics. A Nuvolari-based GT that is longer than a standard A4 sedan is possible with this platform.

Since the latest generation quattro will built into the B8 architecture, the A5 will exhibit less front overhang than previous B platforms.

The A5 will also boast a new DSG, new V6 FSI rated up to 300 HP, and a further refined MMI.

More B8 based models will be released in the following order: Q5 crossover, A4 Sedan, A5 Cabriolet.
