Info from SCOTT
There is a reason to why the bootlid looks like that . And it's all to do with the core criteria of BMW M - in otherwords lightweight. This also helps the upcoming M3 Cabrio which will receive it's press launch in November 2007.
Although you are looking at allbeit digital enhanced pictures The rear end does look a lot better in real life in which BMW are moving to a more Kinetic approach to M-Division in design the kinetic approach therefore brings the M3 to it's M6 and Z4M Coupe brothers and it's upcoming baby brother M2 in 2009.
The positioning of the M3 now becomes much clearer that the M2 will become a reality because there is now an opening for a smaller model. http://germancarzone.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=215
