Sounds like a great vehicle and the spec sheet looks fantastic. I haven't really kept my eye on the X5 because BMW's aren't exactly my thing, i'm surprised to see the 4.8 has 355PS  Fast too!
Hopefully that 3.5 litre Desiel with 286PS gets in the X5, as it is right now ideally i want the 4.8, but the two variants with 3 litre engines offer excellent power.  |

I'd avoid the V8, I hate to refill my cars every 2 days.
I think the 3.0d is hands down the best choice. The performance is more than adequate for everyday sporty driving and the fuel economy is good too. The 3.5d, should it be made, will be faster, but possibly less fuel efficient (still more efficient than the 3.0i and 4.8i though). Either way, you can't go wrong with a diesel.
