Two new BMW 1-series

Two new BMW 1-series

BMW has added two new 1-series models to the Coupe range.

The new BMW 118d Coupe is powered by a four-cylinder common-rail diesel engine, which has CO2 emissions of 119g/km and combined fuel economy of 62.8mpg. BMW claim it is the cleanest diesel-powered sports coupe available in the UK.

It can get from 0-62mph in 9.0sec, before going on to reach a top speed of 130mph. The diesel unit produces 141bhp and 221lb ft of torque.

Prices for the 118d start at £20,500 for the ES model, rising to £23,375 for the M Sport variant.

The BMW 120i Coupe is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol unit, which produces 167bhp and 155lb ft oftorque. It can get from 0-62mph in 7.8sec, before going on to a top speed of 139mph.

Its CO2 emissions are 153g/km and its combined fuel economy is a claimed 42.8mpg. Prices start at £21,115 for the ES model and rise to £23,990 for the M Sport.

Deliveries start for both new models start on 1 September.

BMW has also announced the introduction of a new Sport trim level for the 1-series Coupe and Convertible models. It is available on all four-cylinder cars and includes 17-inch alloy wheels, front foglights, heated exterior mirrors, a multi-function leather steering wheel and Sport seats.

^ Yannis didn't mean it like that....
"Why is that" in the sense of asking if he wants one too....

I don't really understand why BMW added them though. The 4 cylinder BMW engines are completely outdated. They need much more power and turbos. 130i coupé would've been better.

Edit;

This thread is in the wrong section. Can a mod please move it to the 1er section where it belongs?

Outdated? its the latest HPI engines and a part of Efficient dynamics. Also x20i is the most fuel efficient engine in the class. Just becuase BMW are starting with turbo and they arent out yet doesnt mean current engine is outdated. You may not like the engine but saying its outdated is a bit harsh. And BMW sell more 118d/120d/118i/120i than they sell 130i´s so its obvious why they added them, although I can agree that the 'Coupe' maybe didnt need those engines.

Well no not outdated, no BMW engine is outdated. Lets just say they are missing some of the high tech developments that they have given the 6, 8 and 12 cylinder models already They simply need more power. A 2.0 4 cylinder from BMW should have around 220 hp, imo. But at least 200 hp. With a turbo or twinturbo or twinscroll turbo or whatever, they can increase the power and keep the milage down.....

I did see an awful lot of 120i M packs on the Nurburgring yesterday. 1er really likes Nurnburgring. 120i is nimble and light. Late braking and high cornering. And no terrible tire sqeeling sounds that all the FWD and AWD cars in this class make... Looked really awesome to see them in action

Now, please move this thread to 1er section Andreas. These are no new BMW models, just additional engines to existing models.

I just want to add one thing. When the Coupé version were introduced , the x20i engine was already from the start. So its not exactly a new engine for the Coupé.
