Re: Spy Shots: 2010 BMW 1-series test mule

All these nice different models is nice. But when do we get a real M drivers car from M with a high rev 6 cil.

I have a 135i now but turbo is nice for daily but for racing on tracks i much much more prefer high rev atmo engines.

Look at VLN races on the ring all bmw you see are the old ones e36 m3 with 6cil bmw screamers.

It would be nice to make out off a 3 door hatch an M130i. 8000 rpm 6cil alu mag screamer with race seats like porsche GT3. no back seat a bit like that mini with no back seat. A M130i 320hp 1250kg hatch with CSL goodies. Now that s an image maker. Audi does it with a TDI. Mitsubishi does it with evo. Subaru with sti. M3 even if a CSL comes is priced much to high for lots of people who love to have fun with a smaller bmw.

All we get is a bunch of new models. When do we bmw motorsport enjoyers get something special which we can use as a weekend tracktoy and will be priced in the range of the old e36 M3. A real image maker. The 1 series hatch sell good nowadays. The hatch should get this extra attention with M130i screamer.

I love my 135i coupe but when i go to the track i get my 130i. That s says enough. Turbo s have heating problem. Turbo s have lag even an 135i. Turbo break down easier.

When an m130i high rev screamer arrives the 135i will be traded in. I am still waiting and hoping this will happen. For a moment i thought the 135i would be it. But it isn t.

The N53 ( 3.0i with 275hp) could be that 6 cil screamer. Just tune it to 320hp, rev limit at 8200rpm and we have a "new" S54

Re: Spy Shots: 2010 BMW 1-series test mule

BMW 1-series spy photos

BMW is working on the next-generation 1-series – and our spies have caught the first test mules as they took to the streets around Munich. One of the main changes on the new 1-series will be better packaging, to overcome the claustrophobia rear-seat passengers suffer on today's model. That's why this test vehicle appears to have a wider track and changes around the doors.

There's still some time to wait for the new One; we won't see it until 2009-2010 at the earliest. That's when we'll see the full list of changes for the first time, but the Munich grapevine suggests that we'll see numerous technical changes on the new 1-series too.

But there's nothing wrong with the way the 1-series drives!

True, but BMW isn't standing still. The basic architecture will be carried over on the new 1-series, but there will be more aluminium used in the construction, a suite of revised engines (thought to be the 1.4 and 1.6 four-cylinder motors made in Hams Hall and already seen in various Minis and PSA group products) and, possibly, four-wheel drive.

Why 4wd? Don't forget that BMW is plotting a new X1 – a junior SUV to slot right at the bottom of the BM ladder. Plus it has historically always sold 'x'-badged models in mountainous regions like the Alps, where buyers often rule out anything without four-wheel drive.

Naturally, there will be a full suite of different bodystyles, too. Take your pick from three- and five-door hatchbacks, coupe, convertible and – for the first time – a 'space concept' (for which, read sporty MPV).

BMW isn't done yet with ruffling those feathers, we'd predict...

Next Generation 1-Series Thread (Spy pics, Info & Impressions)

These spy photos were taken in California yesterday. I wonder what variant of the 1 series it could be. Hmm....any ideas?

Re: New 1er spy pic

That looks like an 1er Convertible...but maybe that's not what's being tested. Have a look at the vehicle in front of it.

That looks like an X6. We know they're testing a new motor on the X6 (hybrid or the new M motor perhaps?), so maybe that's what being tested and the 1er is probably to divert people.

Re: New 1er spy pic

I think Nikos may be on to something....it's way too early for the new 1er cabrio, and that 1er looks about exactly the same as the current 1er cabrio, proportions and stuff..

Re: New 1er spy pic

These are some ancient pre-FEP prototypes of E88 1er cabrio & E71 X6.

Don't ask me why these cars are still "alive", and driving in the streets ...

Yet they could be pre-FEPs diesels X6 xDrive35d & 120d / 123d!
Keeping them alive for US testing purposes. Could be.
