Read Scott's text again: he's talking about Z4 going upmarket, creating a space for a smaller roadster - a true Z1 successor (mind 1987 KSP realization was Z1 in 1989):

the Z2 roadster.

What engines are expected? 1.6 NA ? Minimium engine should be a 1.8 Turbo, nothing less

Sorry mate, but I don't think that's VAGish. BMW doesn't offer the same car under the Mini badge, for example.
