It's the droptop version of the 1-Series that debuted earlier this year. We've already - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER, back in October. But after all those months, BMWs come up with a suitable US base price of $34,000 to start. That's for the 128i; no word on the 135i convertible, which is expected in Fall 08. In other news, the back seat is the size of an infant's bathtub. |

Pricing will start at $34,000--a modest step up from the coupe's $29,500, and a seeming bargain for the perceived quality and anticipated driving joy. That should awken any competitors who dozed off during the sales recap. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER M |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Live NAIAS pictures: BMW 1-Series Convertible The new 1er Convertible is deliciously sexy. Audi , Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac execs have been crawling over this car and of course the Japanese especially Lexus with their desperate scribbling onto notepads and photographing every element of the car even the way the hood folds and the hood mechanisms. Audi exec did not like the X6 thinks it will be of "Aztec" proportions when it comes to the market officially. Did not think he liked my comments on how they have destroyed the character and substance of the Audi R8 with it's blinged out attempt at progression. The current car has a unique character I dont know what this is meant to be ... Of course our embargo was broken on the M3 Cabrio which is backstage in Detroit alongside the X6 , CS Concept and the 7er. The 7er flies home tomorrow. But we will not be bringing it forward The official launch is still Geneva and will remain so. Unfortunately the leak has led to journalists diverting from the official launches to the new Gearbox . But "no comment" here and to wait till Geneva. Mercedes-Benz brought in smouldering sex kitten Kim Cattral otherwise known as Cynthia in Sex and the City (GLK plug). To launch their GLK unfortunately the dialog was getting a bit to much and yours truly wanted to douse the two of them with cold water hopefully the last someone who walked out the door reminded them to turn out the lights. Mercedes exec slipped the new SL-Klasse launches the first week of February. |
