BMW to shift production of 1-series to Leipzig plant - report
10.08.07, 1:19 PM ET FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - BMW AG plans to shift all production of its 1-series model in Germany to its plant in Leipzig as part of its efforts to increase profitability, Handelsblatt reported, citing company sources. The model is currently also produced in the company's factory in Regensburg, Germany. BMW will also build a planned new compact offroad vehicle in Leipzig, while shifting production of its 4-door 3-series model to Regensburg and Munich, the newspaper said in an excerpt of an article to be published tomorrow.
Source: Forbes So, Leipzig plant will become 1er production facility - incl. upcoming X1, and I guess Z2 roadster as well. 3er will be build in Munich & Regensburg (both Germany) exclusively, while MINI SAV production will be outsourced to Magna Styer, while as we know F25 X3 production will be moved to Spartanburg plant, SC, USA. And E89 Z4 production coming to Regensburg. Interesting. |
